Get in TouchIt was another standout day for Canada on the St. Moritz, SUI slopes on Saturday, as the team of Roxy Coatesworth (Golden, BC) and Beckett Mars (Toronto, ON) skied to silver in the team ski cross event at the FIS World Junior Ski Cross Championships.

On Saturday, the duo opened racing with a second-place finish across the two team event heats in the quarterfinal, trailing only a German pairing, but they quickly established themselves as contenders on the day in the semifinal, eliminating that German pair, while winning the heat. Coming down to the big final against teams, another German pairing, this time of Max Wizeman and Julia Machl, as well as Switzerland’s Celien Crettex and Chiara Von Moos and the United States’ Walker Robinson and Morgan Shute, the Canadians were quick to contend in close racing, eventually crossing the final finish line for a silver medal.

“It feels amazing, really proud of being able to bring a medal home for my country, and it’s what I’ve been working towards all year, so I’m really happy,” Mars said after the event, with the race being the first team event for both athletes in their young careers. “It’s a really unique event, it’s super fun to come down and then watch your teammate get after it on the mountain behind you and come across the finish line and celebrate together.”
For Coatesworth, it marked a second podium performance in as many days, after the 19-year-old skied to a third-place finish in the women’s event on Friday, ensuring that the host nation did not sweep the podium.
“It’s really cool,” she said of winning two medals in as many days. “I’m really proud of myself for showing up for the country with third yesterday and second today with Beckett, it’s really fun, and it’s been a lot of hard work, so I’m happy.”
With the World Juniors wrapped up, athletes now look to close out the 2025-26 season primarily on the Europa Cup circuit, before turning their focus to offseason preparations and the 2026-27 international circuit.
