Get in TouchCalgary, Alberta (March 14, 2026) - Michaela Gosselin (Collingwood, ON) raced to bronze today in women’s slalom at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games. This is Gosselin’s first Paralympic medal, and it is Canada’s 200th Paralympic Winter Games medal.

Racing in the women’s standing category in her second Paralympics, Gosselin continued her consistent performances with her 10th top 10 in 11 Paralympic starts and gives her some redemption after finishing just off the podium in fourth place at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games.

“This means everything. I’m so excited to win a medal that I’m at a loss for words,” said a smiling Gosselin. “I’ve been fourth in slalom a lot this World Cup season but that’s OK because this is the one that really matters.”
“I still think about that fourth place in Beijing even though I try not to, and when I crossed the finish line today, I was worried that I’d be fourth again. I didn’t have a lot of expectations after the way these Games have gone but after the first run, I thought I really had a chance at a medal today and I just gave it my all and it was enough.”

Florence Carrier (https://paralympic.ca/athlete/florence-carrier/) (Sherbrooke, QC), also competing women standing, finished 11th today in just her second start in her first Paralympics. Carrier placed 13th in the giant slalom earlier this week.
“These Games have been an amazing experience,” said Carrier. “I’ve got to grow and learn a lot from it with some amazing moments and people. I’m really happy to have been here.”
The Paralympics wrap up tomorrow with the men’s slalom.
