Guimond Tops Podium and Jepsen Third in Downhill

Calgary, Alberta (January 14, 2026) —Alexis Guimond (Gatineau, QC) raced to the top of the podium today at the FIS Para Alpine World Cup downhill (DH) race in Saalbach (AUT). After placing third in yesterday’s race, Guimond, competing in men’s standing, took his first World Cup DH win in his 18th World Cup DH start.

“I’ve been chasing this downhill victory for a while now and it feels pretty good to finally get it,” said Guimond. “After yesterday’s race, I definitely felt I had areas to improve on, and I was convinced that if I made those adjustments I would be able to fight for the top spot today and that conviction carried through. The snow conditions were quite different from yesterday, the snow was quick and so you had to adjust the line and be mindful of that. The key today was to stay very tactical and to hold on to the bigger turns.”

Mollie Jepsen (West Vancouver, BC) stood on the podium today in third place for the second day in a row. Racing in women’s standing, Jepsen has reached the podium in all four DH races this season, and stood on the podium in six of nine World Cup races this season.

“I’m still building up! I’m happy with sections today but there’s still a lot of room for growth,” said Jepsen. “My consistency is great but my focus is looking for improvements in my skiing and my tactics with every downhill training run and race. Today was another step forward and I am looking forward to building on this more in Tignes in a couple of weeks.”

Michaela Gosselin (Collingwood, ON), matched her result yesterday with another fifth place finish today.
