Canadian Ski Cross National Champions Crowned

Calgary, AB. (January 14, 2026) – Last week was a busy one at the National Ski Cross Training Centre at Nakiska Ski Area with Canada hosting two FIS Ski Cross Nor-Am Cup races and the Canadian Ski Cross National Championships.

The week began with two days of Nor-Am Cup racing. Day one was a Canadian sweep on the women’s side with Roxy Coatesworth (Black Dogs Ski Club) toping the podium, Tiana Gairns (National Team) in second, and Emilene Bennett (NextGen) completing the sweep in third. On the men’s side, Kaleb Barnum (NextGen) raced to second while Carson Cook (National Team) placed third.

The second day of Nor-Am Cup racing saw another Canadian sweep with the same three women, only this time it was Gairns on the top step, Coatesworth in second and Bennett in third. On the men’s side Barnum again stood on the podium, this time on the top step in first place with teammate Nicholas Katrusiak (National Team) in second place.

Day three at Nakiska was racing for national honours and saw Kris Mahler (National Team) on the men’s side, and Roxy Coatesworth (Black Dogs Ski Club) on the women’s side crowned as Canadian Ski Cross National Champions. Jared Schmidt (National team) and Reece Howden (National Team) took second and third respectively. Hannah Schmidt (National Team) and Marielle Thompson (National Team) finished second and third to round out the women’s podium.
